What is going on in school? We are teachers. We are dads. And we often ask the exact same question. Join Chris and Rolland as they reflect on teacher culture and share their work/life experiences. No doubt this will simplify some things and definitely complicate others.
No lack of humour with the way this podcasts starts. Chris experiences some technical difficulties and Rolland comments on how this seems to be a weekly experience for Chris. Once things get going the topic of discussion focuses on Chris' head wear and then moves into the mystery and intrigued that seems to surround the type of work that Chris does with suspended and expelled students.
Rolland and Chris start this episode off by talking some tech but the majority of time is spent on revisiting some of the ideas that have been presented in the podcast since they started back in August. In particular, they spend time talking about the "bag of work" and the "parent-teacher dilemma".
In this episode Chris and Rolland talk about what it looks like when they can't go to work. The guys get into some detail about the thinking process and the planning that goes into being away from school. They also talk about that "one" kid - you know, the one that you still think about years after you taught them. Questions like: Did I do enough? How could I do more? Where do I get the tools I need to do my work? come up as Rolland and Chris discuss that "one" kid.
Chris and Rolland kick things off by talking about the past three months of school. They connect back to the start of the podcast and how they continue to break things down along the way. They spend some time talking about what the month of December looks like within their context and Chris talks about the reality of continuous enrollment in the program he teaches within.
The guys talk about missing a week of the podcast and how they dealt with it. Chris reveals that he has sleep apnea and talks about its effects on his health. Rolland and Chris talk about the idea of breaking up with the internet and the compulsion to publish but not to connect.
After some small talk the guys talk about Remembrance Day and the fact that their 11th episode happens to fall on the 11th day of the 11th month. Rolland reflects on getting his kids learning in the hallways which leads to some deep discussion. There is some talk about EDU Sherpas and Chris drops some homework.
In this episode Chris talks about his new pop filter, the guys revisit the mobile administrator, makerspaces, and Rolland pledges to take his students outside of the four walls of his classroom for some learning "on the road".

Chris and Rolland bust over the one hour mark in this episode.
